Michael Miriello

Employed either full or part-time since the year 1998, Michael continues to work at his recovery with such activities as writing, studying Buddhist philosophy, attending church when God inspires him, and participating in other activities that make him a better peer support specialist.  Michael has borne witness to the beginnings of peer advocacy and support ushered in by the first decades of the Recovery movement in psychiatric care and is proud to have survived a tumultuous, but triumphant course of treatment at a large hospital in Westchester.  He currently works for the New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services and no longer considers himself in a recovery defined by others.
